The following is a summary of important information for parents of Saint Mary students
Guild meetings
Guild is our version of the PTO. We are a fundraising committee for the needs of the students in the school. Each year we pick a new project. Years past projects have included a dishwasher for the kitchen, garbage disposal, iPads for the classroom, a new server etc. Attending guild meetings not only is very informative, but it also allows for a sense of community and fellowship. Attendance to these meetings will also earn your student free dress on the designated day!
Dress code
Please refer to your student handbook for dress code. Free dress is earned by the parent or students for participation in various activities or attendance of meetings. Please refer to your student handbook for “free dress” dress code rules.
Spirit wear Mondays are all Mondays of the school year. Students may wear a St Mary T-shirt and jeans or Jean shorts. We will provide order forms for T-shirts twice a year. Students will also receive a T-shirt during Catholic schools week that is paid for by the school. Any previous year St Mary shirt is available to be worn on these days. If needed you may go to the “clothes swap” or check with older students to see if they have shirts that may no longer fit.
All school mass dress code will be either a navy or light blue polo and uniform shorts or pants. All school mass days are every Friday of the school year except for Lent. During Lent all school mass will be on Wednesday. Other holy days may require all school mass attire and will be noted on either the St Mary Facebook page or the weekly newsletter.
Volunteering
**Please remember the school will follow COVID19 protocol as instructed for visitation at the school
We encourage you to be a part of the school community. We would love for you to volunteer for your child’s classroom, class parties, fun day, and other activities at the school. In order to volunteer or even to eat lunch with your child, you must complete safe and sacred training. The initial training does require a couple hours of your time and a background check. Once this is done then you may participate in the activities at the school. This is required by every parent, grandparent and a visitor. The web address is on the newsletter that is sent home every week.
As always if you have any questions please feel free to contact any Guild officer!
The Parent Guild meets the second Tuesday each month in Zimmer Hall.
The Parent Guild maintains a closet of gently used school uniform shirts, pants, skirts, and spirit wear for all students. Parents are welcome to stop by the school to find for clothing for their child.
As a private school we do not get funding as public schools do. We rely on our church and school community to raise the money to provide ‘extras’ for our students. We also have yearly expenses that we must cover.
“Mandated” vs voluntary
Mandated fundraisers include 3 this year. These include Mums, Bingo, and the Hog Roast/Corn Hole tournament. We require all families to participate in these fundraisers. Routinely you will be sent home a paper explaining the fundraiser and what the family’s requirement is. We also ask that you participate in some way with carrying out the fundraiser itself. We do have a few options for those who are unable to participate in the fundraiser.
The Buy-Out/Buy-In is an option available to families for fundraising through the year. For $300 a family can opt out of participating in the fundraisers. Sending in your check will cover ‘participation’ of your student and, also allow you to opt out of volunteering your time if you choose to do so for that event(s).
Box tops have merged to an electronic platform. This is done through an app that you can download, and receipts of the purchases are scanned (photographed), that will generate the Box Top points for our school. Click on the photo below for more information on how this app supports our school!
